In my opinion. I don't blame Ging. Gon decides dedicating his life to search for his father while consciously knowing how deadly and risky it is to be a hunter. In fact Ging already told Gon that he doesn't want to see him because he chooses to be a hunter over Parenting. Yes Gon is an airhead and Ging is an a££hole but Gon's resolve remains unwavering to search his father.

It's training, at least. Not the most reliable sort of training, but given in the previous arc he was almost killed like 10 times by the Phantom Troupe, he stands a _slightly_ better chance in Greed Island of being able to level up without confronting antagonistic top 30 nen users in the world.

I loved how the author implemented the system. He could have went and said "the mc is very angry so now he has a book and items he can turn into cards" but he implemented new mechanics with a game that is actually played in a virtual universe. Love how the author's brain works and how he introduced the new arc.
